Microseismic moment tensor based analysis of rock mass failure mechanism surrounding an underground powerhouse

The failure mechanism of surrounding rock is an important issue in the field underground engineering. To quantitatively understand process and mass deep engineering, powerhouse Houziyan hydropower station was selected as a case study. study area determined by analysing spatiotemporal distribution microseismic (MS) events site investigations. After noise reduction, P-wave arrival time extraction positioning MS signals, moment tensor inversion method used to determine fracture direction mass. results showed that (1) processes can be effectively analysed through monitoring with analysis (2) type downstream main characterized shear failure. stress state this region strike-slip state. (3) at arch roof transformer chamber tensile intermediate axis obvious, tectonic presented near uniaxial compression-biaxial tension.
